The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for Brandon’s 2018 Key Citizen
Award, 2018 Greater Brandon Community Leadership Award and Leadership Brandon Impact Award.
The recipient of the Key Citizen Award will be chosen based on his or her contributions to the progress of the Brandon community. Nominees should be unselfishly devoted to contributing time and effort for the betterment of the Brandon community rather than for their own personal gain. Involvement in the Brandon community must be consistent, with a minimum period of service of five years, and should be in a number of well-rounded activities, primarily in the Brandon area, with an emphasis on the immediate past year. Nominations will be kept on file for a period of three years. After that time, previous applicants need to be nominated again and submit current information. The deadline to submit nominations is December 31st at 12:00 PM.
These prestigious community awards are only presented if there are deserving recipients and are not arbitrarily given each year. The Greater Brandon Community Leadership Award will be presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, has given selflessly to the Greater Brandon community, and whose efforts have far-reaching effects beyond the Greater Brandon area.The deadline to submit nominations is November 7 at 12:00 PM.
Past recipients of the Greater Brandon Community Leadership Award include: Senate President Tom Lee (whose leadership inspired the inaugural award), Speaker of the House Johnnie B. Byrd, Jr., Sheriff Cal Henderson, John & Kay Sullivan, State Representative (now Commissioner) Sandy Murman, Julian Craft, Earl Haugabook, Paul Senory, Senator Malcolm Beard, Dottie & Sandy MacKinnon, Dr. Earl Lennard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Representative Rich Glorioso, Coach Russ Cozart, Sheriff David Gee, Melissa Snively and Roger Rivard.
The recipient of the Leadership Brandon Impact Award shall be an individual that has been active in Leadership Brandon, either as a participant or as a program leader, who over the past (5) five years has made outstanding, impactful and long-lasting contributions to the leadership program, the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Brandon community; and inspired others to do the same. This prestigious award will be presented at the chamber's Annual Banquet each year that a recipient is selected. Nominations can only be submitted by Leadership Brandon alumni or a member of the chambers board of directors. Nominations will be kept confidential. Nominations will be kept on file for a period of (3) three years. After that time, previous nominees would need to be re-nominated and new information supplied. The deadline to submit nominations is November 7 at 12:00 PM.
Past recipients of the Leadership Brandon Impact Award (formerly known as the Leadership Brandon Eagle Award) are Andy Mason, Susan Saunders, Rufus Ashby, Jennifer Murphy and Carole Gill.
All award presentations will be among the highlights of The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, January 25th, 2019 at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview., FL.
