FROM THE CHAMBER

During this time of change and crisis, the President of the United States, with the guidance of the CDC has requested that all groups of 10+ should postpone events/meetings/gatherings.   With that information, please see below:


  • The staff will be working remotely –  Please call our office at 813-689-1221 for assistance or contact us via email Diana Simmons at president@brandonchamber.com, Yazmin Zayas at yazmin@brandonchamber.com or Jodi Harkins at jodi@brandonchamber.com with questions and concerns.
  • We have postponed all ribbon-cutting through April 15th.
  • We are redesigning April Synergy luncheon meeting – We are working on a plan to offer something comparable on a virtual manner.  More details to come.
  • We are postponing the Coffee Clubs and Business After Hours through April 30th.
  • We are conducting all councils (MAC/GEAC/WKFCE/ED) and committee (Awards/Hob Nob/Best of Brandon) meetings via video conferencing. We will contact via email with the process information.

TECO helps Community with a $1M Grant

Tampa Electric and TECO Peoples Gas are donating $1 million to support Floridians in the communities they serve who have lost their jobs or substantial income as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  Click here to apply

  • $500,000 is dedicated to the Share program, which supports customers who cannot pay their utility bills. The program, administered by the Salvation Army, was also simplified to provide assistance to more people during the pandemic.
  • $500,000 will be dedicated to other charitable partner organizations working on the front lines of the pandemic, providing critical support to our community through meals, housing and other assistance.

SBA LOANS AND RESOURCES

Governor Ron DeSantis activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program, which can assist small businesses impacted by COVID-19. The bridge loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, will provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses experiencing economic injury from COVID-19. The application period opens today and runs through May 8, 2020

The Brandon Chamber of Commerce has been in contact with local and state governments and are following all of the reports from our federal government to gather information and determine the best course of action to protect our community and local businesses.
